Ribbon Vase, Set of Three Heights

$229.00

All three heights together: 300 mm, 200 mm and 150 mm. One of each, not three the same. The step down from tall to small is what makes them read as one arrangement rather than a collection.

Three vases, three different heights. 300 mm, 200 mm and 150 mm. Not three of the same one.

The whole family, in one go

The same design at three scales, which is a different object from three copies of the same thing. Grouped on a sideboard they read as one arrangement rather than a collection, because the eye follows the step down from 300 to 200 to 150 and then stops.

Buy them separately and it comes to $257. This is $229, in one carton, on one delivery.

Why three sizes beats three of anything else

A single vase has to carry a whole surface on its own. Three at descending heights do the work between them: the tall one sets the height, the middle one holds the middle, and the small one stops the group looking like it is about to walk off the edge.

It is also the arrangement most people end up building anyway, one purchase at a time, over about a year.

What you get

  • 300 mm tall (11.8 in), about 150 mm wide. The floor or sideboard piece.
  • 200 mm tall (7.9 in), about 100 mm wide. A shelf, a mantel, a dining table that still has room for dinner.
  • 150 mm tall (5.9 in), about 75 mm wide. Desks, windowsills, the gap at the end of a bookshelf.

All three in red silk PLA, the same filament, so the sheen matches across the set. That matters more than it sounds: three reds from three batches would not.

It holds nothing, and it holds it beautifully

An amphora with most of itself removed. A flared lip and a body made of ribbons that lean past each other, so the light gets through the middle of it and lands on the wall behind.

Every surface of all three is openwork, so there is no solid wall anywhere. That is the whole point of the design, and it is also why none of them hold water. Dried stems, or nothing at all.

The sheen is doing half the work

Silk filament has a genuine lustre rather than a coating over the top, so the red shifts as you walk past it and every ribbon catches a slightly different amount of it. The fine horizontal lines are the layers themselves and they are part of why it behaves that way.

Three of them together triples that effect, because each one catches the light from a different angle at the same time.

Made in Australia

Drawn here, made here, finished here by hand. All three come off one plate in a single 27 hour run, which is the only reason a set costs less than three separate purchases: one setup, one batch, one packing job.

PLA is a bioplastic fermented from plant starch, from crops like corn and sugarcane rather than crude oil. Plant-based does not mean it composts, which needs an industrial composter at around sixty degrees for weeks. It is a plastic made from plants, not a plastic that disappears.

Looking after them

Dust with a soft dry brush rather than a cloth, which gets through the lattice in a way a cloth cannot. Keep them out of direct sun and out of a hot car, because PLA softens around sixty degrees and a tall thin piece will lean before it melts.

There is nothing on them thin enough to snap off. Lift each one with a hand either side of the body rather than by the rim.

The numbers

  • Three vases: 300 mm, 200 mm and 150 mm. One of each, not three the same.
  • 27 hours of machine time for the set, all three on one plate.
  • Red silk PLA, all three from the same spool so the colour matches.
  • $229 against $257 bought separately.
  • KEEPER 002. The same number as the single vase, because it is the same design. One number, one design, never given to another.

Postage

One carton for all three, calculated at checkout from your postcode. Cheaper than three separate parcels, which is the other half of why a set is worth doing. Pickup is free.

What made to order means

Nothing here sits in a box waiting for a buyer. Yours is made in the next batch, finished by hand, and sent to you. That is two to three weeks in practice, and we email you the day it starts rather than leaving you guessing.

Change your mind before it is made and you get your money back. No forms, no questions, no restocking fee, because there is no stock to restock.
