On 15 November 1966, two young couples drove past an abandoned munitions plant outside Point Pleasant and saw something standing in the road. They described it the same way: about seven feet, grey, wings folded, and eyes that glowed red and did not blink.

Thirteen months later the Silver Bridge collapsed into the Ohio River and forty six people died. People have been connecting those two facts ever since.

No neck, which is the whole problem

The head sits down between the shoulders with nothing between them. Every witness statement says the same thing and it is the detail that makes the shape wrong before you have worked out why. We have sculpted it exactly that way.

The eyes do not blink

Smooth, lidless, and set wide. No brow, no lashes, nothing to read an expression from. It is looking at you and there is no way to tell what about.

The wings are the best thing on it

Folded back over the shoulders, veined the whole way like a real moth’s, and they are what makes the silhouette unmistakable from across a room. Look at it from behind and the veining and the fur across the back is the angle nobody expects to be finished. This one is.

Left unpainted

Bare bone-white, which lets the fur and the wing veins read as form. A hand-finished version with red eyes is the obvious next one, and it is coming.

Where it belongs

A cryptid shelf, a cabin, a study, anywhere that already has a Sasquatch on it. Point Pleasant holds a festival for this thing every September, which tells you how many people are already in.

The numbers

  • Printed and finished by hand in Australia.
  • WEIRDO 005. That number belongs to this design and will never be given to another.
  • Height to be confirmed. Wider than it is tall, because of the wings.

Looking after it

The wing edges are the thinnest part and they stand proud on both sides, so lift it by the body and never by a wing. Dust with a soft dry brush rather than a cloth. Out of direct sun, because PLA softens around 60 degrees.

Ordering one now

Made to order. Order it and yours goes into the next batch, usually within a fortnight, and you are emailed when it goes on the bed and again when it ships.

Change your mind before it is printed and we refund it in full without asking why. After that you still have every right you have under Australian Consumer Law, which we cannot exclude and would not want to.
